The revival of grunge fashion in recent years has gradually brought distressed denim back into style.
However, in 2022, Maison Margiela’s slash-detail denim (jeans with cut-outs on both sides of the thighs) became a huge hit, sparking a wave of imitations sold by vintage shops and mass retailers the following year.
As a result, the streets were flooded with similar side-cut denim. This trend has since escalated, with even more extreme styles emerging, including denim with large holes, fraying, scratches, stain effects, and remake denim featuring patchwork and mixed materials reminiscent of the 1970s.
