The term "landmine style (Jirai-kei)" refers to a fashion that may seem cute at first glance, but hides darkness within.
Around 2021-2022, delinquents dressed in landmine-style fashion gathered near the Shinjuku TOHO Building, creating a buzz known as the "Toyoko realm." However, due to a series of incidents and crackdowns, the commotion seems to have subsided.
Nevertheless, the popularity of landmine-style fashion itself has not waned and continues to this day. Representative landmine style fashion combines gothic lolita with manga, anime, and game otaku culture, creating a dark and cute casual fashion. Within the landmine style, there are further subdivisions such as "subculture landmine," "punk landmine," and "angel realm."
