January 8, 2018 (Mon) Shibuya-ku "Coming-of-age ceremony" was held at the Meiji Jingu Kaikan.
The Coming-of-age ceremony in Shibuya Ward has been transferred to this venue in Meiji Jingu from 2 years ago due to the renovation of Shibuya Public Hall. Because of the place, there are many foreigners who just come to see this event, and this year, the number of foreigner was more than their relatives.
In the trends as kimono fashion, retro coloring and big patterns that have been colorful but somewhat less saturated as in the early Showa era in recent years have become trends. Therefore, some people got their kimono from their grandmother, or second hand clothing stores. However, this year, there are quite many people were wearing new rental items overwhelmingly, and it seems that there has been an increase in high-saturation warm colors and flashy items heavily using gold. Also, most of the rentals were full set with accessories, most of whom had total coordination including fur shawls and bags.
There are signs of shifting to the direction of "rental clothing" even in normal fashion. Let’s see if this flow is going to be popular in the near future.
