There was a period of time when the younger generation strayed away from wearing yukatas. However, with yukatas being offered at low prices due to Internet shopping and the diversification in styles such as Goth-Loli and Gyaru styles in addition to traditional styles have gradually brought yukatas back in vogue since around 2005. That being said, it seemed like there would be more people adding their own individual accents to yukata styles. But in reality, most people are wearing these in the traditional proper way with very little wild arrangements excluding some different hair styles and accessories. Without realizing it, traditional Japanese fashion has made its way back to the mainstream again. Making innovations to old-time Japanese clothing may be a difficult task.
