The styles of those wearing their best clothing during the Coming of Age Ceremonies this year in Tokyo has left a slightly different impression than previous years. In recent years, there have been a lot of different styles such as the Oiran style, agejo party girl style, Akihabara girl with glasses style and early 20th century romantic style which give off an overall vibe utilizing more than just the kimono. However, these unique types decreased at this year’s Coming of Age Ceremonies while the more orthodox long-sleeved kimonos have become more prominent. This year, mid 20th century retro styles have increased even more with a lot of overall subdued color tones along with patterns which can be clearly distinguished even from a long distance.
This installment features those who stood out from the Coming of Age Ceremony participants at the Shibuya Public Hall on January 12th, 2015.
