There has been a great deal of girls wearing retro and modern clothing on the street and in the clubs over the past 4-5 years.
Many of these girls get their information from the Nihon Modern Girl Association which was established in 2007 and its representative director Kayo Asai.
In the 1920s and 1930s in Japan, women’s fashion involved mixing Western influences with Japanese civility to create an original style.
A typical feature of this style is a medium length or long skirt and a cloche hat with hair in a short bob. The make-up involves red rouge, eye shadow around the edges of the eye and a faint coloring of the cheeks. This style is influenced by Flappers which were a popular group in Europe and America during this time.
